Green Workforce Housing Project

For many rural communities undergoing demographic changes, quality yet modest housing that is affordable for many citizens, from teachers to log truck drivers, is becoming increasingly scarce.  The lack of affordable housing has been raised in one community forum after another in Glenwood and surrounding towns.  So we’ve decided to do something about it.

Why green, you might ask?  Why not?  Green to us is using local materials to the greatest extent possible, harvested from forests that we are confident are managed sustainably.  It means using a local workforce to construct homes.  It also means compact and energy efficient homes that conserve resources during long winters and hot summers.  And we cannot help but embrace an opportunity to steer development toward community centers versus sprawling into resource lands.

Stay tuned as we develop this project in the coming months!
