MARS hosts international visitors

In early January MARS organized a Glenwood field tour for three visitors from Japan and Singapore looking for new sources of pine for international retailer MUJI. MUJI currently sources its wood from Russia, but company officials are looking for feedstock with a story of forest health restoration, sustainable supply, and sustainable jobs. The Mt. Adams Community Forest and WA DNR’s Klickitat pine ground were the first stops on their US tour. Visitors got a firsthand look at the current condition of these forests and along the way MARS had an opportunity to demonstrate management that produces log supply for now and for the long term, while sustaining jobs for local communities and creating habitat for wildlife. If you want to learn more about our work, you don’t have to come all the way across the ocean. Drop us a line. We’d look forward to talking.
