MARS helps build Klickitat Wildfire Resource Hub

By: Sarah Allaben, Grants & Communications Coordinator

MARS’s Fire Adapted Communities (FAC) program is dedicated to helping local residents understand and prepare for wildfire. While most of our on-the-ground FAC work (think: free chipping programs, educational events, work parties, home risk assessments, etc.) occurs in Trout Lake and Glenwood, MARS is also involved in this work at the regional level.

In the most recent example of our larger-scale work, MARS was heavily involved in producing a new county-wide resource: the Klickitat Wildfire Resource Hub. This website brings together locally relevant information in one place—assistance programs, contractors, checklists, contacts, tools, and more—all organized by topic to help residents take action.

We hope this site reduces some of the confusion we often hear: which agency should I contact? who’s organizing this program? what am I eligible for? where’s the most up-to-date information? The Klickitat Wildfire Resource Hub is a one-stop-shop for folks to get connected to the most appropriate resource.
